Franklin College outlasted Rose-Hulman 5-3 Sunday in the final of the 2012 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament at West Indy Racquet Club.
The top-seeded Grizzlies earned the HCAC’s automatic berth, their first, in the NCAA Division III national tournament, which will be played in the spring.
Franklin senior Rain Tuley outlasted Lauren Miller of the second-seeded Engineers to win 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 5 singles.
Tuley’s hard-fought victory earned the match-clinching team point for the Grizzlies (13-2).
