A late run lifted Trine University past the Franklin College men’s basketball team 78-74 on Wednesday evening in a road nonconference contest.

Trine (5-3) scored 14 of the game’s final 17 points after trailing 71-64 with 4:52 left. A layup by Trine’s Jared Holmquist cut the lead to 71-70 with 3:03 remaining. Teammate Tyler Good split a pair of free throws to tie the game 71-all with 1:37 left.

After Franklin missed a jumper on its next offensive possession, Trine’s Todd Watkins made one of his two free-throw attempts to give the hosts a 72-71 advantage with 1:17 left.
