Sophomore Conner Andersen won his No. 2 singles match in straight sets against Jake Vandivier 6-0, 6-0 to help lead host Center Grove to a 5-0 victory in the semifinals of the Johnson County boys tennis tournament Thursday.
With Luke Andersen back in the lineup, Center Grove’s boys tennis team appears on track for another run at the state tournament.
Andersen, a four-year starter, started the season on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
Playing only his third match, Andersen won with ease against Franklin sophomore Travis Nerding in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals of the Johnson County Tournament on Thursday.
With Andersen at the top, the host Trojans blanked the Grizzly Cubs 5-0.
With its victory, Center Grove (6-1) will meet Greenwood (6-3) in the championship at 4 p.m. today.
The Woodmen edged Whiteland (6-5) in the second semifinal Thursday 3-2, the same score by which the Woodmen beat the Warriors in their regular-season get-together on August 23.
