It’s not as if Center Grove’s football program wasn’t on speaking terms with the stadium at Warren Central High School.
Problem was, the Warriors for well over a decade had been doing all the talking.
With Friday night’s 21-10 victory, the Trojans were finally able to erase the Warriors’ nine-game home win streak over them. It’s a run that dated all the way back to 1997, shortly after formation of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference.
“I stood here a couple hours before our game looking at their scoreboard that makes ours look like a cellphone and watched all of our semistate losses here,” said Trojans coach Eric Moore, now proud owner of a 1-8 mark here since taking over the program in 1999.
