The Center Grove boys tennis team had no trouble completing its first step toward a return to the IHSAA State Finals.
In a first-round sectional match Wednesday at the University of Indianapolis, the seventh-ranked Trojans cruised to a 5-0 win against Greenwood.
The Woodmen, who finished runner-up to Whiteland in the Mid-State Conference Tournament, ended the season 9-7. They were 6-0 in regular-season conference matches.
Center Grove, meanwhile, has been playing its best tennis in recent weeks after finishing second in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference tournament behind top-ranked Carmel on Sept. 17.
