The United Way is expecting a shortfall in its fundraising goal this year but is making one more push for donations.
Volunteers for the United Way of Johnson County have worked to raise about $1.4 million. Most of that money comes from the donations of employees who work at local businesses and corporate donors.
That amount is about $35,000 short of the agency’s goal of $1.435 million this year, according to the United Way.
If the agency isn’t able to raise enough money to meet its fundraising goal, that also could put the United Way at risk of losing a portion of a more than $129,000 grant, United Way executive director Nancy Lohr Plake said.
