Disorder erupted in a Johnson County court this week after a man who had just been convicted and told he was going to jail became upset and started scuffling with police.
A courthouse security officer and Edinburgh police officer both had to use a Taser on Michael William Sloan, 24, Edinburgh, when he wouldn’t let officers handcuff him after the verdict. Family members starting yelling and making threats from their seats as he scuffled with police.
“For some reason, people seem to be a little more aggressive nowadays than when I first started sitting on the bench. There seems to be more discord and expressed disenchantment that tend to amplify the emotions,” Judge Mark Loyd said.
