A walk to take a stand against drunken driving and to benefit an honorary scholarship fund in the name of a teen fatally hurt in a drunken-driving accident will be Sept. 21.
The first Tyler Deputy Scholarship Walk will start at 11 a.m., leaving from Beacon Pointe apartments, 1206 Beacon Drive, Greenwood, and ending at a location near Emerson Avenue and Tracy Road, the crash site where 19-year-old Deputy was hit by a drunken driver in May. He later died from his injuries.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the apartments. Cost is $20 per person.
The first scholarship will go to Deputy’s daughter, Daisy Deputy.
The scholarships will benefit any child who lost a parent in an accident due to an impaired driver.
To donate to the fund separately from the walk, go to any MainSource Bank and make checks payable to the Tyler Lee Deputy Scholarship Fund.
