Bargersville has three small parks but is considering creating more after adding thousands of residents in annexations over the past few years.
A recent study found that after annexing much of southern White River Township, the town needs another 120 acres of parkland to keep up with national standards.
The town’s parks and recreation master plan calls for adding at least one new park this year, partly to better serve the newly annexed areas. The recently updated plan also says that town officials should start figuring out how to build amenities that could include a 100-plus acre park, an amphitheater, volleyball courts, horseshoe sandboxes, a senior center, a splash park, a bike park and a rehab park that could tie in with the recent growth of medical offices.
