STEVE McCLURE | DAILY JOURNAL Whiteland junior Alexa West carded a 3-over-par 74 Saturday to lead the Warriors to the Johnson County Tournament championship at Hickory Stick Golf Club.


They clearly saw the opportunity and seized it.

Aggressive young players of the Whiteland Community High School girls golf team didn’t hold back anything at the annual Johnson County Tournament at Hickory Stick Golf Club on Saturday.

The Warriors started fast and finished strong as temperatures climbed into the upper 80s in the late afternoon when players from the four other county schools started to fade.

But for Whiteland, it was a dash to a well-earned championship.
