A recent Whiteland Community High School graduate received a scholarship for her work in the community.

Carah Austin was awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Financial Services Centers of America.

The scholarship competition focuses on community service, display of leadership, academic achievement and perseverance.

Austin runs Find a Book a Home Foundation. She collects used books and sends them to hospitals and libraries for children. She also sponsors annual trips for elementary students to historic sites in Indiana.
