For the past six months, the only thing that mattered for the Johnson family was beating back the cancer.
Brock Johnson, 16, had been diagnosed with Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma in early February. The Whiteland teen was forced to endure a brutal regimen of chemotherapy treatment that left him vomiting every 15 minutes. Once he was finished with that, radiation to his neck and shoulders left him with sores and burns inside his mouth.
Every day, his mother, Amy Luther, brought him water, helped him take his medications and drove him back and forth to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis. His sisters, Brea and Bobbi Johnson, sat with him to watch funny movies and try to cheer him up.
