The first day of winter doesn’t technically come until Dec. 21. So for anyone yelping about how cold it is, I’m right there with you.

But winter isn’t quite here yet so let’s put on another layer and pull out the thick socks. Coveralls are on my Christmas list this year. One great way to warm up is to do some work.

Yes, I also realize that you can keep warm by drinking hot cocoa next to a fire, but what does that have to do with gardening? I’m actually talking about the best kind of work. The kind that you make yourself do and then later you are so glad you did. Landscape maintenance done prior to winter will give you a lead on next spring.
