Greenwood’s seniors hoisted the Cannon Clash trophy high after they took apart county rival and Mid-State Conference foe Franklin 41-14 Friday night at The Woodshed.
It was another trophy, though, that made this Senior Night most special.
The Woodmen’s win, coupled with Whiteland’s victory at Plainfield, gave Greenwood its first conference title since 2005.
On a night marked by a driving rain and a chilly north breeze, Class 4A No. 4 Greenwood’s senior-laden team ran for six scores and 325 yards in the first half alone to remain perfect at 8-0 and on pace to post its first perfect regular season since 2003.
