The final Mid-State Conference football standings have been something of a free-for-all the past three seasons, with five different programs either sharing the league crown or winning it outright.
Greenwood has been on the outside looking in.
Most recently crowned champion in 2005, the Woodmen after starting the season with convincing victories against Anderson and Indian Creek dip their toes into league play tonight by hosting Martinsville.
“Last year we finished second in the conference, and we tell the players this is our second season,” said seventh-year Greenwood coach Mike Campbell, whose program snapped a two-game losing streak to the Artesians with last season’s 27-20 road triumph.
