Downtown Franklin visitors and workers will be able to use a new parking lot by November.
The city started construction this week on a project that will add more than 80 parking spaces, street commissioner Ron Collins said.
The $800,000 project involves repaving and redrawing lines to add more spaces in three city parking lots before the end of the year, Collins said. Two other parking lots will be repaved and redrawn next spring, Collins said.
Workers started constructing the new parking lot at Wayne and Jackson streets first so that residents will be able to use the added spaces while other lots are closed for construction, Collins said.
