Johnson County may get its first YMCA.
An indoor pool and gym is being considered for Freedom Park in Greenwood. The YMCA is hoping to raise money to pay for the construction costs and could also operate the city’s planned outdoor pool at the park.
The indoor pool and gym would come later. Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers recruited the YMCA to the city, rather than other Johnson County locations. The closest YMCA is the Baxter YMCA on the southside.
