Mold has overtaken the walls and floors of a former Franklin nursing home, and water has left it in danger of collapsing.
Vandals have broken in multiple times; copper wire and metal have been ripped out; and a shed was set on fire since the former Angel Care retirement home facility, at 1107 and 1109 N. Main St., was closed more than five years ago.
Now, the city has ordered the facility be torn down.
The biggest issue is a leaking sprinkler system, which has caused mold to grow and rotted the walls and floor of the lower level, said Rhoni Oliver, city code enforcement officer.
