Funeral services for Ms. Oval Marie Carmack, 98, of Celina, Tenn., will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Upton Funeral Home, 307 W. Lake Ave., Celina, with Brothers Jason Smith and Eddie White officiating. Burial will be at Turkeytown Cemetery near Celina.

Ms. Carmack passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.

She was born March 31, 1914, in Jackson County, Tenn., to the late Henry Whitker and Madgie (Pharris) Whitker Stafford.

She was married to Stone Carmack, who preceded her in death April 23, 1992. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Glen and Ray Carmack; a daughter-in-law, Faye Carmack; a son-in-law, Leslie Upton; and three grandchildren, Terry, Steve and Sherry Carmack.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God in Celina.

She is survived by two sons, Robert P. (Joan) Carmack of Franklin and Harold (Judy) Carmack of Glasgow, Ky.; a daughter, Jane Upton of Celina, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, James R. Carmack, Bill Eric Carmack, John Carmack, Jo Ellen Ford, Connie Sharp, Amy Carmack, Trudy Carmack Green and Glenn Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Upton Funeral Home Celina, Tenn., handled arrangements.

Aria “Emma” Fraley

GREENWOOD

Aria “Emma” Fraley, 93, of Greenwood passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012.

Born July 25, 1919, she was a 1939 graduate of Southport High School.

A kind and loving person, she was a member of Southport Baptist Church.

She retired from Dow Chemical in 1980 after 28 years of service.

She will be missed by a sister, Marcia Rowena Fraley; a brother, Edwin Maxwell “Max” Fraley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Juno (Ferguson) Fraley; and siblings, Frances Gretchen Fraley, John Bertrand Fraley, Paul Robert Fraley and Dolores Virginia Coleman.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at the Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
