Shelly Vivian Giddens, 91, of Greenwood, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012.
She was born May 16, 1921, in Hazel Green, Ala. Shelly married Andrew Jack Giddens in 1939. During World War II, she worked at Allison; and upon Jack’s return from the South Pacific, they raised their children while living in Center Point and on the far east side of Indianapolis. Later, Shelly and Jack moved to Southport.
Shelly had many friends and enjoyed quilting, cooking, card parties and traveling.
Jack passed away in 1997.
Shelly also was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ethel Cunningham Lowe; four sisters, Sue, Helen, Edith and Dorothy; and two brothers, James and William (Jack) Lowe.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Karlene) Giddens and Cathy (Joe) Nill; grandchildren, Owen Giddens, Pat Giddens, Andy Nill and Emily Nill; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St. (U.S. 31 South), Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
