John Mark Chittum, 59, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his son’s home in Morgantown. He was a resident of Clay City and a former resident of Brown County.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley L. (Patterson) Chittum; three sons, Robert (Mandy) Chittum and Bradley Chittum, both of Morgantown, and Travis Chittum of Franklin; eight grandchildren; and his siblings, Betty Thomas of Winston Salem, N.C., Nona Denny of Franklin and Ridgely (Joyce) Chittum of Clay City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur G. and Evelyn Christina (Muterspaw) Chittum.
The Rev. James Brown will conduct a funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military graveside rites presented by the Martinsville American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guards.
