Violet Virginia Dyke Pace
 

Violet Virginia Dyke Pace, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. She was a resident of Greenwood.

Mrs. Pace was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Indianapolis to William and Violet (Carpenter) Dyke.

She attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated in 1947.

She was employed by Vonnegut’s Hard­ware as a bookkeeper from 1946 to 1952.

Mrs. Pace was a charter member of Smith Valley Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for 47 years. She was a member of Whiteland Order of the Eastern Star and had been a leader in the Girl Scouts of America.

She enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan. She took pleasure in traveling and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Married on March 28, 1948, she was the beloved wife of Robert Bryan Pace for more than 64 years.

Virginia will forever be remembered by her children, Diane (Michael) Bunch, Robert (Nancy) Pace, Cindy Ingram, Debbie Piersall and Kathy Grismore. She treasured and dearly loved her 12 grandchildren, Keith Bunch, Trent Bunch, Todd Bunch, Mark Cloud, Shawn Cloud, Gary Ingram, Andrew Cartwright, Justin Piersall, Jacob Piersall, Abigail Piersall, Joshua Pace and Myranda Grismore. Virginia was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving brothers and sister, Richard Dyke, James (Becky) Dyke, Sylvia Wooster, and Stephan (Genie) Dyke; and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Dyke; two brothers, William Dyke and Charles Dyke; a son-in-law, Gary Ingram; and a nephew, John Dyke.

Virginia touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Valley Baptist Church, 4682 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
