Wilma Jean (Hord) Green, 81, of Merrillville, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012.
She was born on April 23, 1931, to John and Edith (Vancleave) Hord, in Franklin.
She studied at Booker T. Washington grade school and attended Alva Neal High School.
She was employed as a housekeeper, and later an X-ray technician at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1998 from the BMV’s state headquarters in Indianapolis as a records clerk.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, William and Lavenia (Durrett) Vancleave; her paternal grandparents, Fred and Stella (Vaughn) Hord; and her beloved daughter, Rene’ Martin.
She is survived by two children, Leslie and Keith; six grandchildren, Tony (Gretchen), Jada (Ricky), Jimmy, Michael, MacKenzie and Gabrielle; and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. The Rev. Irvin French will be officiating.
Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin is handling arrangements.
