Molly Anne Malone, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.

She was born April 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Capt. Louis T. and Charlotte Marie Malone.

She attended San Diego State University and was a graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (BA, 1982), received a Master of Arts from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (1988) and a Master of Science from Martin University (1993). She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority at San Diego State. Molly was a certified alcoholism counselor and a national certified addictions counselor.

Working in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction recovery, she held many positions as a counselor, program coordinator, and lecturer on women’s issues, spirituality and recovery, co-dependence, addiction and intervention. In these roles, Molly touched the lives of many individuals and families in the Indianapolis community.

Molly is survived by a daughter, Cathy Newhall; three sons, Jim (Beth), Rob (Maurine) and Paul (Georgia) Newhall; 13 grandchildren, Serena (JohnPaul) Schutz, Jimmy (Lidia), Vicky, Michelle (Brian), Heidi (Jason) Kelley, Sarah, Stephanie, John Robert (Christine), Kaylyn (Ben) Cummings, Robyn (Blake) Rusch, Jason, Aaron and Emily; 11 great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gilliam, Salome, Sadie, Jay, Cosette, Abigail, Madalyn, Eleanor, Sam and Andrew; two nephews, Mike and Sean Malone; one niece, Katie; and a cousin, Jon Frazier.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Capt. John Patrick Malone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 911 E. 86th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Father Vince Lampert will conduct a service at 1 p.m Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
