Dorothy Jean Young, 83, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a longtime resident of Nineveh.

She was born March 12, 1929, in Brown County to Chester and Hannah (Richards) Bunge. She married Marvin Young on June 29, 1947. He preceded her in passing Aug. 12, 1984.

Survivors include a son, Don Young (Gayle) of Nineveh; two daughters, Barbara Carter (Olin) of Valparaiso and Sherry Lynn Clayton of Greenfield; three brothers, Frank Bunge (Pat) of Cocoa, Fla., Phillip Bunge (Guyla) of Nashville and John Bunge (Ann) of Indianapolis; a sister, Mary Jo Renihan (Michael) of Martinsville; a daughter in-law, Candy Young of Nineveh; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by a son, Gary Young; a brother, Kenneth Bunge; and a sister, Sue Lynn Isley.

Dorothy was a graduate of Helmsburg High School.

She was a seamstress, homemaker, mother and grandmother.

Dorothy was a longtime member of Bluff Creek Christian Church and recently attended Fairhaven Christian Church.

She made baked goods and participated in sewing projects as part of open class at the Johnson County Fair for more than 40 years. She was in the dress review for many years. Dorothy was a Farm Bureau Board member for years.

The Rev. Tom Knight will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Monday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Dorothy to the donor’s favorite charity.
