Alan Bruce Crowe, 62, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was a longtime resident of Franklin.

He was born Sept. 11, 1950, in Franklin to Russell and Carolyn Ann (Montgomery) Crowe.

Survivors include two brothers, Brad Crowe (Patricia) of New Castle and John Crowe of Indianapolis; two sisters, Portia Denise Neal of New Castle and Susan Crowe-Moore (Tyrone) of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Crowe of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, Celeste Renee Crowe, Rick Crowe, Jessica Wallace, Gerald Wallace, Jonathon Briggs, Jennifer Briggs, Tiffany Crowe, Kelly Crowe, Ashley Crowe, Brad Crowe Jr. and Stephanie Crowe; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; two brothers Rick and Brian Crowe; and a sister, Cindy Crowe.

Bruce was a graduate of Franklin Community High School, class of 1969, where he starred on the wrestling and football teams. He was elected most valuable player for the football team in 1967 playing linebacker and halfback. He was a member of the 1966 county championship wrestling team.

Bruce earned an academic scholarship to Franklin College and many athletic scholarship opportunities at other colleges. He chose to go into the U.S. Navy. He was on the underwater demolition team in the Navy.

He enjoyed reading. He loved spending time with his family and was a friend to everyone he met.

The Rev. Irvin French will conduct a memorial service at noon Saturday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Indianapolis.
