Wanita May (VanDeventer) Bever 72, of Columbus died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.

She was born on June 14, 1940, a daughter of Clayton and Fay (Hendricks) VanDeventer. She married Terry Bever on April 24, 1965. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Charlie Bever of Wayzata, Minn.; a daughter, Julie Gilmore of Columbus; a brother, Warren VanDeventer (Norma); a sister-in-law, Edith VanDeventer, and three grandchildren, Natalie Bever, and Olivia and Clayton Gilmore.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Wayde VanDeventer.

Wanita graduated from St. Vincent’s Nursing School and touched many lives as an administrator, ER nurse, and educator. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, cooking, and mostly her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her sense of humor, and her caring heart.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Road, Greenwood. Rev. Chris Philbeck will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
