James “Jim” H. Logan, 85, of Edinburgh, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Franklin Meadows Nursing Home.

He was born June 9, 1927, in Hensley Township in Johnson County to the late Hiram and Hilda (Johnston) Logan.

He married Evelyn L. (Good) Logan March 16, 1952. She preceded him in death Oct. 31, 2011.

Survivors include his children, Kerry (Coni) Logan of Syracuse, Utah, Kit (Jennifer) Logan of Edinburgh, Karen (Doug) Burkhart of Seymour and Kathy (Randy) Creamer of Warsaw; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Logan; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Ernest Dean Logan.

He was a graduate of Trafalgar High School, class of 1944, at age 16. He played basketball there. He attended Purdue University from 1946 to 1948.

He was baptized at United Methodist Church in Morgantown and then transferred to Morgantown Baptist Church. He was a former trustee of Friendship Church.

He was retired as a self-employed carpenter.

He was very patriotic and ran for U.S. Congress in 1974, 1976 and 1978.

He was interested in genealogy and enjoyed sports. He was a Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed Purdue football and basketball. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of Jeff Gordon.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
