Robert E. Griesemer
 

Robert E. Griesemer, 72, passed away of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, with his family surrounding him. He was a resident of Bargersville.

Born Jan. 19, 1940, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Walter and Marie (Watton) Griesemer.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Griesemer; his children, Michael, Steven (Jane) Griesemer and Sandra (Darren) Stanley; his grandchildren, Savanah, Cassius and Maria Griesemer, and Cooper, Eli, Owen and Sage Stanley; three brothers, Clifford (Gloria), Richard (Victoria) and Frank (Barbara) Griesemer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and Leonard Griesemer.

Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Rota, Spain; and Quonset Point (R.I.) Naval Air Station.

He was president of R.E. Griesemer Inc., Mechanical and Fire Protection, and R.E. Griesemer Consulting.

He was a member of Steamfitters Union Local 440 and the Mechanical Contractors Association.

Bob was a member of the Murat Shrine, the Gatling Gun Club and the Arabian Horse Association.

Bob was an avid helicopter pilot who enjoyed traveling with friends and family. He always enjoyed flying the Easter Bunny into various churches at Easter time.

He attended Mount Auburn United Methodist Church.

A service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135 at Olive Branch Road. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Family estate entombment will take place at The Gardens of Olive Branch Cemetery and Mausoleum Park in Greenwood.
