Louis Edward Edens, 87, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

The son of Elzie and Ida M. Parker Edens, Louis was born April 12, 1925, in Springfield, Tenn. A machine operator, he retired after 42½ years from Arvin Automotive.

He was a charter member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and member of the United Auto Workers.

Louis is survived by his wife, Christeen F. Bernard Edens of Franklin; two sons, Terry and Lee Edens, both of Franklin; six daughters, Debbie Baughman of Kendallville, Gloria Locey of North Port, Fla., Janet Edens of Frankfort, Rita Summers of Indianapolis, and Joan Wilborn and Letha Wolfarth, both of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Edens; and a sister, Lula Head.

Services will be at noon today at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1349 Graham Road, Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
