Helen M. Shanks, 87, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Greenwood Meadows Nursing Home in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born March 14, 1925, in Logansport to Peter and Katherine (Kiel) Latz. She married Ora Shanks, and he preceded her in passing.
Survivors include a daughter, Susie Fountain of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Heather Basile of Los Angeles, Adam Shanks of Anderson and Joshua Shanks of Lawrence; and four great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Holden, Stephanie and Thomas.
She was preceded in passing by her husband; a son, Stephen D. Shanks; and a great-grandson, Sean.
Helen worked for Bank One in Indianapolis for many years.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Indianapolis and the Red Hat Ladies Society.
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
