Mary Ada Smith, 87, went home to be with her Lord and savior on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her residence in Edinburgh.
She was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Cunot to the late Nathan Bryant and Susie (Streeval) Bryant McClellan.
Survivors include seven children, Marlin (Sue) Smith, Pamela (Samuel) Phelps and Edna (Mike) Lawson, all of Franklin, Steven (Patti) Smith of New Whiteland, and Randy (Becky) Smith, Ernie (Rachel) Smith and Fay (Carroll) Ridpath, all of Edinburgh; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Earl N. Smith; two brothers, Samuel and Johnny Bryant; five sisters, Imogene Campfield, Martha Jordan, Leona Jordan, Betty Carnes and Ruth Bryant; and her stepfather, Robert McClellan.
She was a member of The Church of God in Franklin.
She retired from the Edinburgh Water Treatment Plant and formerly worked for Human Services of Franklin. She also worked as a cook and baker in area restaurants.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, fishing and flower gardening.
The Rev. Danny Carter will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of God, 856 N. Main St., Franklin. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
