Norma L. Burton, 83, of Edinburgh, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

She was born March 13, 1929, in Noblesville to the late Thomas and Bessie M. (Shaul) Swinford.

She is survived by her daughter, Deidre L. “Dee” Burton of Edinburgh; companion, Harry Miller of Edinburgh; two grandchildren, Keisha L. Burton and Dakota K. Burton; and a great-grandson, Kolten D. Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Rusty” Burton.

She was a past president of Edinburgh Amercian Legion Auxiliary No. 233. She was a member of Edinburgh Veterans of Foreign Wars post from 1998 to 2000.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Faith Nursing Home in Edinburgh and at Franklin United Methodist Community, also in the laundry department.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading and crocheting.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. The Rev. Terry England will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
