Richard Johnson, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Greenwood.
The son of Robert and Jesse G. Lester Johnson, Richard was born May 1, 1931, in Indianapolis. He was discharged from the Indiana National Guard on Jan. 19, 1952.
A tool and die maker, Richard owned and operated Johnson Engineering since 1965. He was a member of the National Tool & Die Association.
Richard is survived by two sons, Richard A. (Barbara) Johnson of Indianapolis and Steven L. (Judi) Johnson of Bargersville; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; a sister, Marjorie Johnson; and two brothers, Leonard Johnson and John William Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
