Robert Dale “Bob” Deckard, 73, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Bob resided in Franklin.

He was born on March 24, 1939, in Columbus to Murrel and Hazel (Moore) Deckard. He married Phyllis (Shepherd) Deckard on Aug. 16, 1959. She lovingly survives in Franklin.

Other survivors include children, Mike and wife, Libby Deckard of Franklin; Cheryl and husband, Brian White of Franklin; and Julie and husband, Charles Claxton of Franklin; grandchildren, Josh (Brett) Deckard; Jenifer (John) Branstetter; Jake Deckard; Becca White; Sarah White; Hannah White; Evan Claxton; Aaron Claxton and Alex Claxton; great-grandchildren, Katie, Wyatt and Michaela Branstetter and Riley and Drew Deckard; numerous nieces and nephews and many sisters and brothers-in-law who dearly loved Bob as their brother.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; infant brother, Chester Deckard; sister, Geneva Deckard and brother, Kenny Deckard.

He was a 1957 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Olivet Nazarene College.

Bob was owner of their family business, Deckard Builders for many years.

He was a faithful member of Franklin Nazarene Church where he served on the board and the song leader for more than 20 years.

He truly enjoyed spending time with his family.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Franklin Church of the Nazarene at 140 West Branigin Road, Franklin. The Rev. Jack McMahon and Rev. Max Downs will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
