James William “Big Jim” Smith, 85, died Friday, March 15, 2013, in Franklin. He was a resident of New Whiteland and a former resident of Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa (Morris) Smith; three daughters, Phyllis A. Smith, Patty (Daryl) Hamilton and Donna M. Jones; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dora (Mosely) Smith; and three sisters, Esther L. Akers, Roslyn Akins and Hazel Hensley.
A memorial celebration will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Grace Church, 4172 Allison Road, Camby. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
