Joseph L. Lester
 

Joseph L. Lester, 57, a resident of Edinburgh, passed from this life at 5 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at his mother’s residence in Martinsville.

Joe was born in Martinsville on Jan. 31, 1956, to the late David E. Lester and Mary (Fleener) Lester, who survives. He spent his childhood in Martinsville, graduating from Martinsville High School with the class of 1974.

Shortly after high school, Joe moved to Franklin, where he remained until 2006. He worked at Arvin Industries in Franklin from 1974 to 2004. In 2006, he moved to Edinburgh. That same year he began working for Caterpillar Inc. in Franklin, where he was currently employed.

Joe was a member of Franklin Church of the Nazarene. He loved to go fishing and hunting, play with his grandkids and attend church.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends including his mother, Mary Lester of Martinsville; three sons, Mike (wife, Martie) Lester of Richmond, and Joe Lester and Bobby (wife, Rosie) Lester, both of Martinsville; a brother, James (wife, Inge) Lester of Harker Heights, Texas; a sister, Joyce Lester of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Jerry and John Lester.

The Rev. Max Downs will conduct a service celebrating Joe’s life beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center, 110 E. Poston Road in Martinsville. Family and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Disabled American Veterans, 6400 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46219.
