Richard P. “Dick” Canter,

65, passed away Friday Dec. 13, 2013, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

Dick was born April 17, 1948,

in Indianapolis

to the late Richard P. and Virginia H. (Fleener) Canter.

He married Jo Anna Leslie on April 26, 1974, in Jeffersonville. They were married for 39 years.

Dick was a self-employed painter for 23 years.

He enjoyed watching Westerns, reading and scratch off lotto tickets. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and family. Richard touched many hearts by helping people.

He is survived by his wife,

Jo Anna Canter of Franklin;

three children, William (Beverly) Canter, Trinity (Scott) Wadsworth and Richard T. Shea (Ashley) Canter all of Franklin; two sisters, Sally Jones of Franklin and Kathleen Turner; nine grandchildren, Jason, Dylan, Phillip, Alexis, Brooklyn, Shaylee Canter and Renee Jones, Gary Lunsford and Ethan Early; a great-grandchild,

Faith Brothers; five nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death

by his parents and a brother, Charles Canter.

In honor of Dick’s wishes, no services are planned. Arrangements are being handled by Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel.
