James E. “Jim” Caldwell II, 86, died Wednesday Jan. 15, 2014, in Greenwood. He was a resident of New Whiteland.
Jim was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Crawfordsville.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II.
Jim was an over-the-road truck driver for Yellow Freight for 23 years, retiring in 1983. He liked all kinds of trucks, especially pickups.
He enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes, being outdoors and cooking on the grill. He loved all animals.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Brann) Caldwell of New Whiteland; five children, Patricia Randolph of Franklin, Peggy (Tom) Stingley of Greenfield, James E. (Brenda) Caldwell III of Shelbyville, Kenny (LaVerne) Caldwell of Whiteland and Vicki (Jack) Moyer of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Forrest M. (Farrow) Caldwell; two sisters, Maxine Caldwell and Avelene Dickerson; and two grandchildren, James “Jimmy” Caldwell IV and April Rodriquez.
No services are planned at this time.
