Marvin W. Foley, 78, Martinsville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Franciscan St. Francis Health-Mooresville.
He was born Saturday, Dec. 7, 1935, in Martinsville to the late Orville Foley and Erelene (LaFary) Foley Flake.
Marvin was a 1953 graduate of Martinsville High School. He retired as a pipefitter from Allison Gas Turbine in Indianapolis after 31 years. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and past member of the Martinsville Masonic Lodge 74 F&AM. Years ago, he owned Fabrics by Foley and Foley and Son Enterprise (appliance repair), both in Martinsville. He enjoyed woodcarving and fishing and was a member of the local woodcarvers club.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy G. (Alexander) Foley, whom he married on Jan. 28, 1989; a son, Gerald “Jerry” Foley and wife, Stacey, of Franklin; daughter, Tammy Smith of Hardinsburg, Ky.; stepdaughter, Stephanie Marshall of Seattle; brother, Melvin Foley of Martinsville; grandchildren, Toby, Kyle, Kristi, Lindsey, Cassandra and Scott; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, 1609 John Wooden Drive, Martinsville, with the Rev. Jacob Morrison officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
