Margaret “Marge” Cavanaugh, 80, of Greenwood, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.
She was born on April 19, 1933 in Indianapolis, a daughter of J. Lester and Beatrice S. Williams.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Joe Sr.; children, Louis (Patty) Cavanaugh, Joe Jr. (Melanie) Cavanaugh, Mary Cavanaugh and Chris Cavanaugh; eight grandchildren, Joe, John, Allison, Josiah Cavanaugh and Amanda (Cavanaugh) Anderson, and Jessica (Cavanaugh) Jones and Katie and Noah Rollings. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Thomas Anderson and Caleb Brewster.
Her brother, Edward Williams, preceded her in death.
Marge regularly attended Southport Presbyterian Church. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed singing. Marge was a Sunday school teacher at Broadway United Methodist Church and was active at Greenwood United Methodist Church in the Women’s Group.
She was secretary in the School of Agriculture and the Physiology department at Purdue University while her husband finished his degree.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southport Presbyterian Church, The Toney Chapel, 7525 McFarland Blvd., Indianapolis with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. June Barrow will officiate.
