James ‘J.O.’ Johnson
 

James “J.O.” Johnson, 74, of Edinburgh, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

He was born Feb. 19, 1940, in Johnson County, to the late Clyde P. and Alberta (Cochran) Johnson.

He married Alice (Kautiainen) Johnson on Jan. 19, 1959.

She survives.

Other survivors include his children, James (Lisa) Johnson of Columbus and Dara Simpson, Allison (Cary) Detling and Kelly Hagan, all of Edinburgh; sisters, Miriam A. (Curtis) Rooks and Angel J. (Billy) Wiser, both of Edinburgh; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia L. “Pat” Smith.

He formerly owned Lancer Express Trucking Co. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards and NASCAR.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. The Rev. Lewis Burton will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
