Walter S. “Steve” Buckner, 62, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born July 4, 1951, in Franklin to Oren Keith and Kathleen Jean (Lee) Buckner.

Steve is survived by his former spouse, Carol (Lattimore) Buckner; a daughter, Shannon Buckner of Florida; a son, Troy Buckner of Florida; a brother, Jim Buckner of Franklin; two sisters, Nancy Burke and Kathy Murray, both of Franklin; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; a brother, Fred Buckner, and a sister, Sandy Walker.

Steve was a 1969 graduate of Indian Creek High School. He attended Indiana University. He served in the National Guard and Army Reserve.

He was employed in many different positions with Farm Bureau Co-op for several years.

He was an avid motorcycle rider. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and spending time on his boat.

Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin.
