Roy A. Ward, 71, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

Roy was born July 18, 1942, in Crawfordsville. He married Dorothy McKinney on July 14, 1962, in Kentucky; they were married for 51 years.

He worked for G.S.C. in Indianapolis for 15 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He served in the Army for three years during the Vietnam era at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He worked as a maintenance E5 on the Pershing missile system.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days. He loved his family, grandkids, nieces and nephews and spending time with all of them.

He was a member of Amity Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee.

Roy will be truly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (McKinney) Ward of Franklin; his mother, Mary (Keller) Ward of Camby; a son, Roy E. Ward of Franklin; three brothers, Darrell (Pam) Ward of Florida, DeWayne (Sherry) Ward of Mooresville and Denis (Marcia) Ward of Danville; son-in-law, Greg Weber of Osgood; and two grandchildren, Nathan Weber and Makayla Weber.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Eugene Ward; and a daughter, Kimberly Weber.

The Revs. Ron Ellis and Doug Brown will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. A visitation for friends and family will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
