Gladys Gertrude “T.V.” Brown, 89, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
Gladys was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Ironton, Ohio, to John Bailey and Fannie (Hatfield) Bailey.
She married Warren Eugene “Gene” Brown on Aug. 14, 1945, at Westminster Church in Dayton, Ohio. He
preceded her in passing March 29, 2012.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia James (Bob); a son, David E. (Laura Briggs) Brown; a granddaughter, Jennifer Browne; a great-grandson, Carter Browne, both of Fort Mill, South Carolina; a half brother, Walter (Ann) Hatfield of Antioch, Tennessee; and two nephews, Mark and Stephen Hatfield, both of Antioch, Tennessee.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where she taught the Chinese how to repair aircraft landing gear.
From 1961 to 2000, Gladys owned Brown’s TV Rental Service at Johnson Memorial Hospital.
Gladys and Gene were charter church members of St. George’s Lutheran Church in Edinburgh, where they were members for more than 55 years. She was a member of the Franklin Chapter No. 439 of Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No. 1818.
Glady never met a stranger. Her greatest joy in her life was her family.
Ed Boone will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Friday at St. George’s Lutheran Church, 10931 S. County Road 600W, Edinburgh. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
