Bruce Van Winkle, 71, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Aug. 15, 2014, at his home in Morgantown. By his side was his loving wife of 48 years, Jeanette (Everts) Van Winkle, whom he married on Oct. 28, 1965, in Indianapolis.

Bruce was born in Indianapolis on June 13, 1943, to his parents, the late Carl H. and Alice M. (Hickman) Van Winkle.

He was a 1961 graduate of Morgantown High School and went on to serve with the Indiana National Guard for six years.

Bruce worked at the V&V Regal Store in Morgantown, which his parents owned for 10 years. He owned and operated Van Winkle’s U-Sav Gas Station in Morgantown for 20 years, which later became Mr. Video, which he owned for 13 years and retired from in 2012.

Bruce enjoyed playing pool, putting a garden out and watching a variety of comedy, drama and western television shows. He really enjoyed playing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Bruce was a member of Bean Blossom Baptist Church in Brown County.

He is survived by his wife; and children, Brian (Kathy) Van Winkle and Deanna (Neil) Bauman, both of Morgantown. He will be remembered by his brothers, Ross Van Winkle of Tonopah, Nevada, and Wayne (Judy) Van Winkle of Morgantown; grandchildren, Brady, Joe, Traci, Rachel, Trenton, Daniel and Shaylene; great-grandchild, Colton; and sister-in-law, Susannah Van Winkle.

Bruce was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and Kevin Van Winkle.

The Rev. James Brown will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
