Marjorie Murray, 94, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.
Marjorie was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Clinton County, Kentucky, to the late Stanley and Myrtie (Stearns) McWhorter. She grew up on a large farm and knew the meaning of hard work. She received her education in Kentucky and in Chicago.
She lived and dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.
She retired after many years from Canteen Corp. at Johnson Memorial Hospital.
To know Marjorie was to love her. She will be missed by so many. She is now gone to be with her Heavenly Father and her loved ones who passed before her.
Marjorie is survived by a son, Carl (Karen) Murray; two grandchildren, Christine E. Murray and Michael (Shannon) Murray; five great-grandchildren, Hunter L., Ian D. and Zachary Q. Partin, and Abigail N. and Emily G. Murray; and a sister, Dr. Elizabeth Harden.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. Bruce McWhorter, Kenneth (Rachel) McWhorter and Jasper McWhorter; and a nephew, Kenneth R. McWhorter.
She also had a good neighbor in Rusty Snyder, who helped care for Marjorie in her last years.
Pastor John Young will conduct a service at 10 a.m. today at Swartz Family Mortuary, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
