Edith M. Phelps, 93, of Greenwood, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 14, 2012.

She was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Stab, Ky., to the late Lucian and Ethel Peters Mize.

Edith married Earl Phelps on Dec. 8, 1945, in Southport; and he preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1989.

She was retired from Western Electric after being employed 22 years.

Her memberships were Calvary Baptist Church and Senior Hilltoppers.

She was a Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years and enjoyed traveling, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Greg (Dana) Phelps of Indianapolis; a daughter, Sheri (Daniel) Carter of Whiteland; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray (Ann) Mize of Greenwood.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers Cecil, Louie, Wilburt and Edward Mize.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Memorial gifts have been suggested to Calvary Baptist Church, 200 Sunset Blvd., Greenwood, IN 46142.
