Robert Alan “Big Bob” Schindler, 56, of Franklin, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital after a motorcycle accident.

He was planning a route for a church fundraising ride called the Freedom Ride. Robert was born at St. Luke’s Hospital of Newport, Ky., where he was later raised, although he spent most of his adult life in the Franklin and Edinburgh areas of Indiana.

He was a pillar of his church and a member of the Wheels of Faith chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association.

He was an avid motorcyclist and he loved Harleys and hot rods.

He dabbled in Harley repair but his main occupation was working as a mold tech.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Schindler; and niece, Jaimi K. Bolmer.

He leaves behind a mother, Goldie Mae Clark; a sister, Denise Schindler of Newport Ky.; a loving wife, Christina R. Schindler; and six children, Michael Schindler and Chastidy Whitt, both of West Virginia, Kasey Patrick of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cheyenne Schindler, Chelsea Pedigo and Shaina Foreman, all of Franklin. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Haley M. Schindler, 8, Ava C. Schindler, 2, Welsey J. Patrick, 10, Zakary K. Patrick, 5, Destinee M. Hollins, 8, Trinity A. Hollins, 7, Jami B. Streeval, 6, LeBron E. Schindler, 3, Nora E.M. Gresh, 2, and one on the way, Athena C.S. Gresh.

The Rev. Willie Davenport and Rev. Lewis Burton will conduct services at 9 a.m. Saturday at Revealing Light Baptist Fellowship at 16120 N. U.S. 31, Edinburgh.

A ride follows to Newport, Ky., for a riverside service, and to deliver his ashes to his childhood home.

He worked hard for his church and CMA, spreading the gospel to the biker community.

The family asks that memorial contributions be mailed to Revealing Light Baptist Fellowship, 16120 N. U.S. 31, Edinburgh, IN 46124.

Checks can be made payable to the church if it’s toward “Freedom Ride,” or make them payable to Wheels of Faith for the “Run for the Son” ride.

Please write in the memo or note that donations be made in Robert A. Schindler’s name.
