William O. “Bill” Canada lost his 12-year battle with cancer and went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 22, 2012. He was a resident of Greenwood.
Born Jan. 7, 1939, at home in Monroe County to the late Ora and Marian (Hatzell) Canada, he was a 1957 graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis and successfully completed a six-year apprenticeship with Indianapolis Typographical Union. He worked 45 years in the graphic arts industry in Indianapolis.
On May 8, 1960, he married Glenda N. Todd. Together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage and had two children, Robert William Canada and Annette Marie (Canada) Morris.
Bill is survived by his wife, Glenda; a daughter, Annette (Andy) Morris; a grandson, Sam Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents; a son, Robert William Canada; and a sister, Betty J. Staab.
Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood.
He enjoyed U-control model airplanes, bowling, walking at the mall and playing with model trains with his grandson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, with pastor Ernie James officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Entombment will be private at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent’s Hospice Center, Riley Hospital for Children or American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
